SmartWay Logistics to manage Kimberly-Clark Europe’s shipments

UTRECHT, Netherlands - 9 February 2010 – Kimberly-Clark Europe and SmartWay Logistics announce today the signing of a long term contract for transport management services. Kimberly-Clark is a leading global company and an indispensable part of life for people with well known brands such as Kleenex, Huggies, Pull-Ups and Depend.

SmartWay Logistics will manage over 70,000 European intercompany full truckload shipments, cross border full truckload customer deliveries, and domestic customer deliveries in France and Poland. Additionally SmartWay Logistics will be responsible for selecting and managing hauliers and providing logistics administration support.

The appointment of Smartways marks a significant change in the way Kimberly-Clark manages their transportation operations. Historically, Kimberly-Clark managed this portion of their freight using an in-house freight management team based in their European Shared Service Centre. “We selected SmartWay Logistics based on their expertise of the European transportation market and their low cost approach to managing our business, “ said Peter Surtees, Director of European Consumer Logistics, for Kimberly-Clark Europe. “With SmartWay Logistics driving operational and system synergies we have seen a reduction in empty running which benefits include lower transport costs and carbon emissions”, he added.
